A simple wooden shape sorter for little problem solvers. Each chunky wooden shape is painted with a different Wild Wonders animal, ready to be matched up and sorted.
- Four wooden shapes with animal illustrations
- Teaches shape and colour recognition
- Helps develop fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination
- Compact, at under 20cm long
- Suitable from 12 months
Shape sorters are one of the first puzzles small children can do on their own, and the bright jungle animals give them something to talk about while they work it out. It's a lovely gift for a first birthday, and it sits nicely alongside the Wild Wonders bead loop and stacker.
At first, most little ones will just enjoy holding the shapes, turning them over and taking them out again. Show them how one shape goes back in, name the animal and the shape as you go, and before long they'll be trying the others on their own. Working out which shape fits where takes a bit of trial and error, and that's where the learning happens.
Wood is warm and solid in the hand, and at just under 20cm long it's small enough to pack in a changing bag for visits.
How to use
Take the shapes out and help your child match each one back to where it belongs. Always supervise young children during play. Wipe clean with a damp cloth and let it dry. Don't soak the wood or put it in the dishwasher.
Materials
Wood and plywood.

Why We Love This Brand
Rex London started in 1981 as a market stall on Portobello Road, where founders Rob and Eri sold things they had found on their travels in Asia. Today their own illustrators and buyers design everything in house, and colour runs through all of it. We like them for gifts that make everyday things a bit less ordinary.
