Here at Faerly, we believe in the power of trees to restore and regenerate our planet. That's why we plant a tree for every order we receive. 🌱

We're proud to work with two amazing charities to make this happen. Home Tree is doing incredible work to restore Ireland's native woodlands and address the climate crisis by planting thousands of pioneer trees.

And Trees for the Future is helping farming families in sub-Saharan Africa to lift themselves out of poverty and regenerate their land by planting amazing productive ‘forest gardens’ that as well as restoring tree cover and regenerating soil, also create a thriving source of food, animal fodder and fuel for each family.

Every time you shop with Faerly, you're not only supporting sustainable, ethical brands, but also contributing to a brighter future for our planet. So thank you! 💚 🌳

Nancy Birtwhistle has built a devoted following by showing that a genuinely clean home doesn't need a cupboard full of plastic bottles and chemical sprays. In Clean Magic, her latest book, she brings together 101 fresh tips and ideas for tackling almost anything your home can throw at you, using simple, natural ingredients that are kinder to the planet.

  • 101 practical tips for greener, chemical-free cleaning at home
  • Covers stains, deep cleans, laundry, kitchen, outdoor areas, and personal care
  • Includes Nancy's signature Basic Magic spray and Pure Magic Gel recipes
  • Natural alternatives to shop-bought cleaning products and single-use plastic
  • 304-page illustrated hardback from a Sunday Times bestselling author

This is Nancy's most complete cleaning guide yet: the kind of book you keep in the kitchen rather than on a shelf, reaching for it whenever a new problem presents itself. From shifting a greasy oven to freshening a stinky drain or tackling a mystery stain on the sofa, there's a tip in here that works. Every solution is built around a handful of inexpensive natural ingredients; bicarbonate of soda, white vinegar and washing soda, all easy to source, long-lasting, and free from the harsh chemicals found in most conventional cleaning products.

Nancy's approach has always been practical rather than preachy. She shows you what works, explains why, and makes it easy to weave greener habits into the rhythms of everyday life. Her Basic Magic spray and Pure Magic Gel have already won over thousands of followers online; this book pulls those together with dozens of new ideas in one well-organised, attractively presented volume.

A thoughtful gift for anyone looking to cut back on plastic and chemicals at home, or for existing fans of Nancy's work who want her latest and most comprehensive collection of tips.

The book is organised into seven sections:

Introduction: What it means to go green, the essential toolkit, a full kit and ingredients list, and a handy guide to what to use and where.

Marks and Stains: Basic Magic, Pure Magic Gel, dry grease remover (Terre de Sommières), sticky stuff paste, dry cleaning foam, green bleach foam, cleaning patios and pavers, rust marks, marks on wood, and more.

Deep Cleans, Blockages and Refreshes: Oven Magic, the big oven clean-up, aluminium oven filters, the stinky sink, slow-flowing sinks, blocked toilets.

Kitchen Tips: The big pantry clear-out, the stainless-steel pan, seized washing soda, fridge and freezer clean, homemade dishwasher detergent.

General Household Tips: No water waste, bins, mop cleaning, sheepskin rugs, window blinds, the big car clean-up, holiday cleaning checklist, infused vinegar, reed diffusers, wildflower seed waste-paper gifts.

Clothing and Laundry Care: Homemade laundry detergent, fabric softener, wool and delicates wash, conker detergent, ivy detergent, clothes moths, lavender wand, stain removal for sun cream, slime, baby clothes, and more.

Personal and Pets: Liquid hand soap, homemade deodorant, body spray, pet-friendly cleaning.

Nancy Birtwhistle won the fifth series of The Great British Bake Off in 2014, but it's her green cleaning work that has since earned her an international following. Motivated by wanting to protect the planet for her ten grandchildren, she began experimenting with natural alternatives to chemical cleaning products, sharing her discoveries online to a rapidly growing audience. She worked as a GP practice manager in the NHS for 36 years before retiring in 2007, and brings the same methodical, no-nonsense approach to her home tips as she did to her clinical work. Clean Magic is her eighth book.

If you're ready to put Nancy's tips into practice, we stock the natural cleaning staples you'll need to get started.
