Each butterfly is screen printed by hand on both sides by artisans in Jaipur, which gives the colours their depth and means the garland looks just as good from either side. That makes it ideal for windows and for stringing across a room.
Screen printing lays down each colour separately through a fine mesh screen, which is why the colours come out so bright and solid. Because the butterflies are stitched in place along the thread, they stay where they are rather than sliding into a bunch when you hang it.
It works for a birthday or a garden party, then stays up long after as a bright bit of decoration. The paper is made from cotton waste from the textile industry.
How to use
Hang from hooks, pins or washi tape at either end, letting the garland drape. Keep away from damp and direct heat. To store, wind it loosely so the butterflies don't crease.
