Glycerine is one of those ingredients that turns up again and again once you start making your own. It draws in moisture and holds on to it, so a small amount goes a long way in a hand cream, a body lotion or a batch of soap.
This one is vegetable glycerine, certified organic to the COSMOS standard, so it's a clean starting point for anything that's going on your skin. It's from Anaé, the DIY cosmetics range from Ecodis in Brittany, and comes in a recyclable amber glass bottle.
It earns its place around the house too. Glycerine relaxes wool fibres, so a little in the rinse when you hand wash a jumper helps it come back soft and supple. It sits nicely alongside our other natural cleaning basics, like bicarbonate of soda, soda crystals and soap flakes.
How to use
Use at 1 to 10% of your recipe for a smooth, creamy texture in homemade cosmetics, or more in water and glycerine plant macerates. For woollens, add a little to the rinse water when hand washing.
Store away from damp, heat and light, and close the bottle well after use. The use-by date is on the bottle.
Safety
Avoid contact with eyes. Do not swallow. Keep out of reach of children.
