Lactic acid is the gentlest of the alpha hydroxy acids and the one that behaves best on skin that is not used to acids. It loosens and sweeps away dead surface cells, so they lift away instead of sitting there dulling everything down.
Start slowly. One to two minutes once a week is enough at first, and you build from there as your skin gets used to it. Ten minutes twice a week is the ceiling, not the starting point.
How to use
Apply a thin layer to freshly cleansed skin once a week. Leave on for one to two minutes, then rinse. Each week you can gradually increase the time, up to a maximum of ten minutes, and the frequency, up to twice a week, as your skin builds tolerance.
