At the heart of this piece lies a symbol of resilience: the Palestinian keffiyeh, shaped into a heart. Through delicate hand-drawn patterns inspired by the traditional fishnet and herringbone designs, Laura captures the strength, dignity and enduring spirit of Palestinian culture.

About the Artist
Laura Dempsey founded Pickled Pom Pom in 2018 from her home studio in County Kildare. Her distinctive illustration style has made Pickled Pom Pom a beloved Irish brand, celebrating life's moments through thoughtfully designed cards, prints, and decorative pieces. Her work is characterized by its warmth, attention to detail, and ability to capture emotion through colour and pattern. Laura is passionate about supporting local production and creating pieces that help people connect and celebrate. For this special collaboration, she wanted to create something that honoured Palestinian culture with the respect and beauty it deserves.
About the Artist's Process
Laura began by studying the intricate patterns of her daughter’s Palestinian keffiyeh. She then digitally illustrated the distinctive red and white weave using soft organic brushstrokes, thoughtfully rendering each fold to honour this powerful cultural symbol.
A 5th Birthday with Purpose
This year marks Faerly's 5th birthday. What began as a lockdown project in our spare bedroom has grown into a small but mighty team supporting over 100 Irish makers and sustainable brands. When it came time to celebrate, we decided to skip the party and do something meaningful instead. Working with Laura felt like the perfect partnership - two Irish businesses using our creativity to support the people of Palestine. It's a celebration rooted in the values Faerly was built on: community, compassion, and positive action for causes that matter.
