A steel scourer is the classic fix for a scorched saucepan, and one will see off a lot of washing up before it needs replacing. Keep one by the sink and one for the barbecue.
Unlike a sponge, there's no foam to hold on to bits of food and turn smelly, so a quick rinse under the tap leaves it clean and ready for next time. How to use
