The skin around your eyes is thinner than the rest of your face, and it's often the first place to show tiredness and fine lines. Retinol supports cell turnover, which softens the look of fine lines over time, but it can be a lot for delicate skin. Here it's encapsulated and released gradually overnight, so it's a gentle place to start if you're new to retinol.
Alongside it, opal alga, a mineral-rich seaweed extract, supports hydration and renewal, and squalane locks in moisture without feeling heavy. It's aimed especially at skin going through perimenopause and menopause, when changes around the eyes can show more.
It isn't made for teenage skin. A gentle cleanser and a light moisturiser are a better fit there.
Made in the UK, in recyclable packaging.
How to use
Use in the evening only. Shake well first, as the natural ingredients can separate. One drop from the pipette is enough for both eyes: dot it gently around the eye area and massage until absorbed.
Start with two or three nights a week, then build up to every night as your skin adjusts. If your skin is sensitive, patch test first, and you can apply a moisturiser beforehand as a buffer.
Retinol can make skin more sensitive to the sun, so wear a broad-spectrum SPF the morning after.
Safety
Contains vitamin A, so consider your daily vitamin A intake before use. Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding: ask your doctor or midwife about alternatives.

Why we love this brand
UpCircle build their formulations around ingredients rescued from other industries: coffee grounds from cafes, chai spices from tea makers and fruit water left over from juicing. It is a certified B Corp and plastic negative, and the products are good enough that the upcycling is a bonus rather than the reason to buy.
