A beech wood vegetable brush with two firmnesses of agave fibre, so you can scrub potatoes and carrots clean without peeling them and keep the goodness in the skin.
- Beech wood handle with a good grip
- Two bristle firmnesses for different vegetables
- Natural agave fibre bristles
- Saves peeling, and the vitamins in the skin
- Made in Europe
Plenty of the nutrients in vegetables sit in or just under the skin, so a good scrub instead of peeling is worth it, and it's quicker too. The firmer side tackles muddy potatoes and carrots, the softer side is for gentler veg.
It's good for new potatoes, carrots, parsnips, beetroot and celeriac straight from the garden or the farm shop, and the softer bristles are good for mushrooms, courgettes, apples and other thin skins that would bruise under a stiff brush. Less peeling also means less waste going in the compost bin.
The handle is untreated beech and the bristles are agave fibre, a tough natural plant fibre, so there's no plastic anywhere in the brush.
Keep it for food only and use a separate brush for washing up, so it stays clean and free of soap.
How to use
Scrub vegetables under running water, using the firmer bristles for tougher skins. Rinse the brush and let it dry. Don't leave the wood sitting in water. Shake it out and stand it on its side so the water drains away from the wood. A little vegetable oil on the handle now and then keeps untreated beech from drying out.
Materials
Beech wood and agave fibre.
