Scrub the soil off potatoes and carrots with one side, then flip it over for a gentler clean on mushrooms, apples and courgettes.
- Two types of bristle in one brush
- Firm coconut fibre for muddy root veg and thick skins
- Softer sisal fibre for delicate fruit and veg
- Wooden handle with a finger groove for a comfortable grip
- Plastic-free, so there are no plastic bristles to shed
The darker coconut side is tough enough for freshly dug potatoes, carrots and beetroot. The lighter sisal side is softer, for thin-skinned produce that would bruise under a stiff brush.
Giving your veg a good scrub means you can leave the skins on more often, which saves time on peeling and puts less in the compost bin. If you grow your own, keep it by the back door for the first clean of veg straight from the garden.
It's handy for other kitchen jobs too, like scrubbing out the sink or loosening stuck-on bits in pots. At around 14cm long it sits comfortably in your hand and doesn't take up much room by the sink.
How to use
Wet the brush and scrub produce under running water, using the coconut side for dirt and the sisal side for delicate skins. Rinse the bristles well after use and let the brush air dry fully between uses. Avoid leaving it soaking in water, as this can weaken the wooden handle.
Materials
Wooden handle, coconut fibre (darker bristles), sisal fibre (lighter bristles).
